Description: Looking for a motivated and enthusiastic team player to fill a High School Earth Science teaching position at the Moffat County High School.  

  • Plan and present suitable learning experiences in science topics for all types of students in multiple learning settings and meets the needs of the physical, social, intellectual and emotional development of children.
  • Oversee, analyze and give student feedback regarding standards and outcomes in science.
  • Collaborate and interact with individuals and teams of parents, students and staff in varied environments and settings
  • Develop, select and change engaging instructional and laboratory materials and resources
Salary:  Commensurate to education and experience.

Qualifications:   Must meet Colorado license requirements for secondary science.  This includes holding or eligible to obtain a Colorado teaching license. (for more info on State license go to www.cde.state.co.us)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals—established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs instructional methods and materials (including field trips) that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 
-Diagnosis the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Assists the administration implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignment of teacher aides and/or volunteers, and cooperatively with principal evaluates their job performance.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required.
- Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administration.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:  The employee supervises students in the class, parents and volunteers.
 
Language Skills:  Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
 
Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implements lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.  The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture.  Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
