SUMMARY
Effectively manage the Exceptional Education learning environment to prepare lesson plans, provide
specialized instruction, evaluate, monitor, and collect data on the students’ performance in order to advance
student achievement. Understand and appreciate diversity. Work collaboratively with a team to plan
instruction. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning. The Exceptional Education Teacher will
complete required case management duties.

This position will develop and implement the philosophy of inclusive education in Tucson Unified School District.  He/She will support schools in implementing the inclusion pilot program.  Must be willing to work during summer months.  Will be working at multiple TUSD sites. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate
Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
Appropriate Special Education Endorsement/Approved Area
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Certain endorsement/approved areas(s) may be required for highly qualified/appropriately certified purposes.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students

Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

SITE PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Special Education, Leadership or related field
Three (3) or more years experience as an inclusion facilitator or specialist
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Exemplary communication skills
Must be collaborative and have a strong philosophy of inclusive education
Flexible, able to assess situations and provide solutions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
