Utah Virtual Academy, a public charter school, is seeking an outgoing and technologically savvy individual to join their related services team for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. This position is located largely at the Murray offices of Utah Virtual Academy but will require some travel along the greater Wasatch front (Logan to Nephi). The Utah Virtual Academy and K¹² give Utah kids in grades K-12 the chance to learn in the ways that are right for them. We are hiring a full-time Speech Language Pathologist.

A Speech-Language Pathologist for Utah Virtual Academy will have the opportunity to: • Evaluate students for potential and ongoing services and make recommendations to the student’s IEP team based on both informal and formal assessment. • Develop and implement service plans including observation, direct services and consultation with teachers and other providers. • Participate as appropriate on Individual Education Plan (IEP) and other teams. • Serve students ages 5-21 with articulation, pragmatics and social skills needs. • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports. • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection. • Demonstrate effective communication skills and an ability to work in as a team. • Provide regular feedback regarding student progress based on consistent data collection and ongoing informal assessment throughout the school year. • Participate in professional development, including provision of professional development related to your area of expertise, as needed.
Assessment of students will be done in one of two ways:
• Live, at our office in Murray • Live, at another location along the greater Wasatch front, such as a room in a public library.
Services for students will be provided in one of two ways:
• Live, at our office in Murray • Live through an online classroom such as Zoom • It will be up to the Speech Language Therapist to create and manage a home office from which to provide online services, and from which to organize all other job duties • Grades served: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th
