Description

JOB DUTIES: Teach English to elementary, middle and high-school students in four schools within the District. Administer required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students in grades K-12, and ongoing monitoring of student progress; develop language acquisition support plans (ESL/ELL plans) for all ESL/ELL students and work with classroom teachers to implement plans; employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including whole-group (co-teaching), small-group, or individual learning; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to English language acquisition. Requires teaching in two (2) elementary schools, one (1) middle school, and one (1) high school. These are, Greensville Elementary School, (approx. 1,085 students; pre-K to 5th grade), Belfield Elementary School, (approx. 177 students; 5th grade), E.W. Wyatt Middle School, (approx. 560 students; grades 5th - 8th), and Greensville County High-school, (approx. 712 students, 9th – 12th grades).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must travel to all four schools within the school district. Sixty percent (60%) of time teaching elementary students, twenty percent (20%) of time teaching middle school students, and twenty percent (20%) of time teaching high-school students. All four schools within the District are located approximately five miles from each other. Their respective addresses are: Greensville Elementary School: 1011 Sussex Drive Emporia, VA 23847; Belfield Elementary School: 515 Belfield Road Emporia, VA 23847; E.W. Wyatt Middle School: 206 Slagles Lake Road Emporia, VA 23847; Greensville County High School: 403 Harding Street Emporia, VA 23847.
