IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION MONITOR LEVEL II
Hiring Pay Range $15.85 - $16.82 DOE
FTE .5625     22.5 hours per week. 
Hours: Monday to Friday 10:30am - 3:00pm
Location: Orange Grove Middle School
Target Start Date: 8/2/2022

 
Definition:
Under immediate supervision of certified teaching staff performs work of moderate difficulty monitoring students sent to in-school suspension for disciplinary reasons.
 
Essential Functions:

Tasks:
Remove or receive students from regular classes.  Monitor and assist students with school work while assigned to in-school suspension.  Monitor students at lunch detention and after school work programs.  Assist students in developing successful study habits and help them learn ways to avoid situations which would result in discipline.  Document all students’ incidents and maintain accurate records on each student.
 
Work with students with long-term disciplinary concerns and monitor their progress.  Monitor returning students to assess successful re-integration.  Respond to teacher’s calls in crisis situations.  Work with teachers, administration and parents regarding behavior plans and results.  
 
Process referrals and enter data into automated database, and either act on referrals or forward to appropriate administrator.  Maintain student schedule database work outside of in-school suspension/disciplinary records.  Administer academic placement tests to new students.  Collect data and generate reports quarterly or as needed for discipline, tardiness, grades, enrollment, rosters, etc. Create schedules for new students as they enroll throughout the school year. Remove schedules as students withdraw. Make schedule changes for students as needed throughout the school year. Follow-up on all registration forms needed to generate schedules. Input data beginning in February through registration in August. Adding/removing students, balancing, assigning classes to staff and revising as numbers change.
 
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
Knowledge of CFSD policies and procedures regarding student discipline, detention in-school suspension and after school programs.
Knowledge of basic curriculum of assigned school and appropriate study methods.
Knowledge of basic tutoring methods and techniques.
Knowledge of basic student counseling and guidance methods and techniques.
Skill in monitoring students in a group disciplinary setting.
Skill in creating and maintaining automated records.
Skill in assisting students with studying and developing good study habits.
Skill in effective communication, orally and in writing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and law enforcement officials.
 
Minimum Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with middle or high school students receiving school disciplinary actions. Intermediate to advanced level computer skills particularly with databases and Excel Spreadsheets.
