Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Autism, Deaf-Blind, Early Intervention Specialist, Educational Diagnostician, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Severe/Profound Disabilities, Special Education (General), Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairment, Paraprofessional/Teaching Aide (Special Education).
The license must be in one of the following grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.

Description

Promontory School is located in Perry UT, 8 miles south of Brigham City and 15 miles north of Ogden, UT. Minimum of $11 Per Hour, additional compensation based on experience, 20-25 hours per week, starting in August of 2020.

The Special Education Paraprofessional will: • Work with students individually and in small groups, both in the general education classroom and in the special education suite. • Receive annual training on Child Find and IEP delivery as provided by the Utah State Office of Education. • Be responsible for assessments of students with special needs • Learn and understand the elements of IDEA. • Help teachers identify other students who may have special needs. Promontory will use Least Restrictive Environment as well as a school-wide structure of communities and crews that foster a team-based culture for all of the students in the school, including those with disabilities. Cooperative learning is greatly encouraged in all classroom and expeditionary environments as well as using hands-on approaches as much as possible. Positive behavior interventions and restorative practices are central to Promontory's culture. As such, special education staff must be willing to find innovative ways to work within these structures to serve the needs of the students.
