Description:  The Early Childhood Center is looking for a motivated, caring, and enthusiastic person fill a Special Education Teacher position.  

Salary:   Salary commensurate with experience and education level. Certified Salary Schedule.

Responsibilities and Duties: Other duties as assigned
- Along with parents and classroom teachers the Special Education teacher will assess students’ skills to determine their needs and develop to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs for each student based on their specific needs and abilities.  Monitor the progress of these programs and updated them as needed.
- Teach and mentor students one on one, in small groups, or as a class.
- Organize and assign activities to students based on their individual needs and learning abilities.
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals and staff who work with individuals with disabilities. 
- Develop clear success criteria that is used as an instructional tool for students.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, administration, and colleagues.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required.
- Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administration.

Education, Experience and CertificationsEligible or already in the possession of a Early Childhood Special Education teaching license for the State of Colorado, have attained highly qualified status for the content area, flexible, works well with team, dependable, loves kids, good classroom management, good people skills and communication. Should be familiar with working with at risk populations and associated interventions. 
- Familiar with State and Federal IEP reporting requirements. 
- Can work well as a team member, understanding of collaborative processes and data dialogues. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  The employee supervises students in the class, parents and volunteers.
Language Skills:  Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implements lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.  The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture.  Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
