WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt
>HOURLY RANGE : $10.75    -   $15.23

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the Cafeteria Manager by accurately counting and claiming meals as per the Child Nutrition Program rules and regulations. To maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation and safety practices. To provide safe, healthy and attractive nutritious meals to enhance the learning environment for every MCISD student.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  1. High school diploma, GED or higher
  2. City of Mission Food Handler Certification
  3. Maintain required Professional Development Standard hours as required by TDA for this position.  (Must obtain within 6 months of employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  1. Basic knowledge of mathematical and accounting principles
  2. Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  3. Ability to interact cordially with adults and students of all ages and diverse backgrounds
  4. Ability to handle tight time sensitive deadlines.
  5. Ability to perform tasks in high noise school environment
  6. Knowledge of the Nutrikids software
  7. Knowledge of Offer vs. Serve, Choice and Reimbursable meals required
  8. Willingness and ability to accept kitchen responsibilities in the Manager’s absence
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  1. Serves food according to work schedule, Health Department code and HACCP.
  2. Works after or before assigned hours, including Saturdays as needed to prepare and serve meals for students.  Practice and promote portion control and follow instructions on Food Production Records.
  3. Maintains proper appearance and hygiene and follow established procedures to meet high standards on cleanliness health and safety.
  4. Wears proper uniform and shoes daily.
  5. Travels and substitutes in any building either by private vehicle or by CNP truck driver as needed.
  6. Completes work schedule and assignments.
  7. Works in all areas of food preparation such as, but not limited to: cook/server, baker, snack bar cook, salad preparation, dishwasher, special diets, inventory, table cleaning, trash pick-up, mopping, sweeping, kitchen clean up, etc. following the HACCP Plan.
  8. Accepts any food delivery as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.
  9. Properly labels, records, stores/disposes of any unused or left-over food and reports to Manager for production record.
  10. Prepares any daily reports as may be necessary for accountability.
  11. Follows proper safety procedures; and follows safety regulations in the performance of duties; and reports accidents immediately.
  12. Reports any equipment malfunction or unsafe condition of equipment to the Cafeteria Manager.
  13. Respects federally funded foods, equipment and supplies according to USDA, TEA and TDA guidelines.
  14. Promotes teamwork and interaction with fellow co-workers.
  15. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Child Nutrition Program Director, or CNP Assistant Director.

  1. Understand written and verbal instructions
  2. Understand simple mathematical calculations
  3. Work in high noise area
  4. Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional at all times.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  1. Continual standing, walking, pushing, pulling and overhead reaching; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, carrying, lifting; grasping, squeezing, wrist flexing extension and occasional climbing (ladder)
  2. Moderate and occasional exposure to extreme hot and/or cold temperatures.
