Description

Essential Duties Provides classroom support and assists classroom teachers with planning daily instructional activities for all students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and using state Standards of Learning and the curriculum of the district Supports school wide literacy initiatives based on the needs of the students. Assists the principal and the school improvement team in the planning and implementation of the school's effort to increase the proficiency of literacy for all students Serves as the literacy coach for the school by modeling and providing exemplary strategies for reading instruction (to include planning) Provides instructional coaching for literacy Assists teachers with the development and implementation of instructional strategies that support differentiated instruction to meet the needs of remedial, benchmark, and advanced students Supports teacher teams in the analysis and interpretation of school and division data, utilizing this analysis to inform classroom instruction Identifies, locates, and/or creates a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the need of all students Stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools Incorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning Works closely with Title I and the secondary English specialist/coaches in curriculum matters Maintains records of student performance and attendance, and communicates this effectively with students, their parents, and teachers Attends professional development and specified training to enhance literacy content and pedagogical skills (some will occur during the summer) Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues Collects data for program evaluation Participates in school leadership teams, where applicable Performs other duties as assigned
