Concord Road Elementary School is seeking a Long-term Substitute Special Education teacher, effective late March 2027 through June 2027.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The Long-Term Special Education Teacher Substitute Position will provide high-quality, engaging instruction to a diverse group of learners, which fosters a safe, supportive environment. The teacher will design and deliver lessons aligned to the New York State Learning Standards, with a strong emphasis on leveraging the principles of the universal design for learning framework. This role requires a commitment to meeting the needs of all students through differentiated instruction, collaboration with colleagues, and ongoing professional growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- New York State Professional Certification in Students with Disabilities: 1-6
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to supporting equity, inclusion, and the academic success of all learners
- Strong IEP writing skills
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a long-term substitute position.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, inclusive, and conducive to learning.
- Plan, deliver, and assess standards-based lessons using evidence-based practices and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students
- Use data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and adjust teaching strategies to ensure student success.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress monitor students' goals on the IEPs.
- Collaborate regularly with grade-level colleagues, support staff, and families to enhance student learning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to strengthen instructional practices and remain current in evidence-based methods.
- Attend Annual Reviews and complete the IEPs for students on your caseload
