Description: Substitute Teachers, Substitute Staff Assistants and Substitute Nurses

Substitutes will be responsible for the appropriate care of students in the absence of the full time teacher/nurse.  Subsitutes at the Rockaway Township Public Schools should be an integral part of the school family.  

• Substitute Teacher/Staff Assistant

  • Must hold a NJ Teaching License or a NJ Substitute Teacher License.
  • NJ Substitute Teacher License requires a minimum of 60 college credits.
  • Salary: $175.00 per diem
  • Floater Sub Salary: $185.00 per diem

• Substitute Nurse

  • Must hold a NJ Substitute Teacher License and NJ Registered Nurse License or a NJ School Nurse License.
  • Must be AED and CPR Certified.
  • Salary: $225.00 per diem 

Qualifications:

• Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
• Handle students' medical needs, whether routine or emergent
• Review and implement teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
• Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
• Report any incidents or potential incidents to school administration
• Be available to work on a consistent basis
• Perform other duties as directed by school administration
