Job Summary: The Whitko High School Driver Education Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training to students enrolled in the driver education program. The instructor ensures students understand traffic laws, safe driving practices, and responsible decision-making while operating a motor vehicle. The goal of the program is to prepare students to become safe, confident, and responsible drivers.
Reports To: High School Principal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom instruction covering traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safe driving practices.
- Conduct behind-the-wheel training with students in accordance with state driver education requirements.
- Develop and maintain lesson plans aligned with state driver education standards.
- Ensure all vehicles and safety equipment used in instruction are maintained and operated safely.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback on driving performance and classroom participation.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, driving hours, and course completion.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress when necessary.
- Promote safe and responsible driving behaviors.
- Follow all school district policies and state regulations related to driver education programs.
- Coordinate scheduling for driving sessions and classroom instruction.
- Report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately to school administration.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
Qualifications:

Valid IN state teaching license or certification.

Valid driver education instructor certification as required by the state.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
