WORK DAYS:   12 months (260 days) -  260 Day Work Year Calendar

                           Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

 

SALARY:           7S - Supervisory, $72,412 - $97,403 annual salary  

                           Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.

TITLE:  FISCAL ANALYST

SALARY RANGE:  7S, Supervisory

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under minimum supervision, perform difficult financial accounting functions; maintain accounting records; receive and be accountable for all funds; prepare financial statements and claims; assist in budget preparation, direct accounting technicians.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

a. Required:

1. Graduation from high school or equivalent.

2. Two years high-level accounting experience in a public agency.

3. Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping practice and theory; work paper preparation; audit trail techniques and record keeping requirements; office machines, computers, and filing systems; budgeting, journals and bank statement reconciliation. 

4. Knowledge of SACS account code structure.

5. Ability to assist in maintaining a fiscal record system in a school district; instruct and train accounting technicians and clerical personnel in the use of computerized spreadsheets, computer accounting programs, accounting principles and techniques and record keeping; use of computerized accounting systems; work closely and effectively with managers and others throughout the district; communicate clearly and effectively with employees and the public.

 

b. Desirable:

1. Some college-level courses in accounting.

2. Two years high-level accounting experience in a public school district.

3. Experience in multiple facets of agency fund accounting, supplemented with professional courses in school district accounting techniques.

4. Experience with QSS software.

5. Knowledge of computerized accounting programs, including stand-alone and network systems; spread-sheeting techniques and word processing; account code systems and program budgeting theory; district policy and regulations.

 

SUPERVISION

Under the direction of the Director of Finance

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

1. Work closely with accounting technicians engaged in the financial and statistical accounting and record keeping of the district.

2. Review records processed and advise personnel on accounting problems and procedures.

3. Assist in the training of accounting personnel.

4. Direct and assist in setting up records and forms for gathering and maintaining data for district-wide accounting purposes.

5. Work closely with the Technical Services Department on computer-related accounting matters.

6. Upgrade reports and methods of accounting and record keeping.

7. Confer with managers and other employees of the district regarding their budgets and financial reports.

8. Prepare and provide statistical reports as required by the Director of Finance.

9. Maintain a computerized employee position control system.

10. Prepare mandated cost claims and other claims and reports to the state and county.

11. Perform other duties as required.

 A. Physical:   Employee in this position must have the ability to:

  4. Speak so that others may understand at normal levels.

  1. Interact daily in person with other members of the school staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes.
  2. Because of the time urgent nature of duties and because work product of position is interdependent with that of other staff, consistent attendance is required.
  3. Convey an understanding, patient attitude toward other staff, students, and parents.
  4. Maintain the privacy of confidential information.
