Nutrition Services Kitchen Worker (Dishwasher)
Position: Kitchen Worker (Dishwasher) Daily Schedule: 4 hours/day Reports To: Kitchen Manager
Position Purpose The Kitchen Worker (Dishwasher) supports the daily operations of Nutrition Services by ensuring all kitchenware, serviceware, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with local, state, and federal food safety guidelines. This position is critical to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment for providing high-quality meals to students and staff.
Essential Functions
Cleaning & Sanitation -Scrape, wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment after each use. -Operate and maintain the commercial dish machine, including pre-heating to 140-150o F and ensuring final rinse temperatures reach 180o F. -Perform manual warewashing using the 3-compartment sink method as a backup or for specific items, ensuring proper detergent and sanitizer concentrations. -Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including counters, storage areas, and preparation equipment, following established schedules. -Air-dry all items completely before storage. -Adhere strictly to all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and local health department regulations.
Monitoring & Record Keeping -Monitor automatic dispensers for detergent and sanitizing solutions to ensure they are functioning correctly. -Daily record warewashing and dish machine temperatures on the required logs. -Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or shortages of cleaning supplies to the Kitchen Manager immediately. Food Safety and Sanitation -Follow all safety procedures to promote safe work habits, including the proper use of kitchen equipment and chemicals. -Ensure food preparation surfaces are cleaned and sanitized at the beginning of the day and between tasks. -Complete all mandated safety and sanitation training.
General Support -Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies as needed. -Assist in transitioning serving lines and refilling items during meal service lulls if requested. -Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and standardized procedures.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen equipment or crates.

Hourly** Range: **$17.75/hr - $22.25/hr
