Title: Full-Time Science and Engineering Instructor Location: Marco Island Academy Description: Performance Responsibilities - Plan, develop, and execute lessons that reflect the curriculum and the state’s core educational standards in all of the high school science disciplines, particularly Physics and/or Chemistry, as well as those for the Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering courses. - Adapt science curriculum for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students. - Provide group and individual instruction to motivate pupils, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities. - Evaluate the academic and social growth of students. - Assess student progress and ability to meet courses’ standards in science and engineering knowledge and skills. - Establish and maintain standards of student behavior. - Employ a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing pupils, including demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and hands-on activities. - Utilize educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning aids. - Actively engage in professional development opportunities and then implementing the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. - Create a classroom environment conducive to effective instruction. - Use assessment data to assist administrators with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention programs. - Effectively communicate with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, both successes and concerns. - Serve lunch and bus duty assignments, effectively run Manta Mentoring group, and actively participate as a team player within our Marco Island Academy family. Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred - Certification in specific Science discipline(s) (Grades 9-12) required - Strong background in science and engineering instruction and teacher training required - Successful experience in facilitating student learning - Successful experience as a mentor - Minimum of four (4) years successful 9-12 teaching experience preferred - ESOL and/or ESE Certification or Endorsement preferred - Demonstrated success as a science and engineering teacher, especially with striving students preferred
