7-8 ELA Teacher

The Dearborn Academy, a K-8 Charter School located at 1930 Ford Rd. Dearborn, MI 48128, is seeking a Middle School ELA  Teacher. The Dearborn Academy's mission is to serve a multicultural community through individualized, focused instruction allowing each student to achieve academic excellence and exhibit social responsibility.
 
Position Specific Responsibilities
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
 

1. Utilize instructional and classroom management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.
2. Implement the assigned instructional activities and course of study to engage students in conductive learning.
3. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
4. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals.
5. Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis.
6. Meet professional responsibilities.
7. Maintain and upgrade professional skills.
8. Promote and maintain positive school-staff and pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
9. Other related duties as assigned by Principal. 

Education, Certifications, and Work Related Experience: Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Elementary/ Middle Level Teacher Certification
• Two years of teaching experience, preferred
• Experience with elementary/middle programs dependent on area of assignment
• Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified Criteria (Major in content area, or Minor and Passed MTTC exam)
