To assist in the creation of a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning, build positive home-school relations; to assist in the areas of student attendance, discipline, and learning; to assist the Vocational Supervisor with assigned functional areas of responsibility.


  • Possess a high school diploma and additional higher education preferred, teaching certification a plus.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have minimum 3 years experience in a school environment.
  • Must meet satisfactorily Act 34, Act 151, and Federal Background Checks as prescribed in Act 114 of 2006.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and adults.
  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events.
  • Gather, collate, and/or classify data; analyze data.
  • Operate and use job-related equipment.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and/or groups.
  • Ability to problem solve; analyze issues and create action plans.
  • Attentive to detail; meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, teachers, students, and the public.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Having basic working knowledge of computers.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment; able to multitask; be a strong team player.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the school's genuine concern with the education, growth, and development of each student.
  • Work to develop a positive public relationship among the sending school districts and the community.
  • Carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue review.
  • React positively to directives.
  • Have a willingness to cooperate with the FCCTC administration, faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student's educational record.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Adhere to JOC Board of Education Policies and Procedures.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vocational Supervisor with communicating to parents about student problems, discipline, and attendance issues.
  • Assists with maintaining and reviewing student attendance and discipline records.
  • Assist students in establishing high standards of conduct.
  • Assist to improve student attendance.
  • Supports administrative staff by maintaining school discipline plan.
  • Keeps administrative staff informed of all activities.
  • Fosters environment conducive to learning.
  • Communicates positively and effectively with students, educational community, parents, and supplemental agencies, as necessary.
  • Communicate information to students about home school events.
  • Recognize and celebrate student accomplishments and projects.
  • Patrol building and grounds assisting in campus security.
  • Reports illegal acts, inappropriate behavior, and student issues.
  • Participates in resolving student conflicts with Vocational Supervisor.
  • Participates in Professional Development activities as required by the Vocational Supervisor and/or Administrative Director.
  • Assist the Attendance/Administrative Assistant to the Vocational Supervisor with student absence and tardy notes.
  • Assist the Vocational Supervisor with discipline issues.
  • Perform accurate record keeping as required by the state (safe schools reporting, etc.)
  • Perform morning and afternoon bus/parking lot duty as needed.
  • Assist with cafeteria duty as needed.
  • To provide "To Be Assigned" coverage for teachers.
  • Assist with monitoring student progress.
  • Assist with Saturday School, detention scheduling, and assignments for students at home schools.
  • Check Classmate for referrals.
  • Participate in applicable committees as assigned.
  • Cross train to assist with office responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vocational Supervisor and/or Administrative Director.

Physical Qualifications

  • Shall have the ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Sustain any and all body movements as related to the position.
  • Operate a vehicle in the course of carrying out assigned duties.
