Substitute Food Service
Assists in preparation and service of food to students and staff; washes, rinses, sanitizes foodservice equipment and utensils; assists with other related foodservice activities required for the operation of the child nutrition program.
Note: All substitute employees are hired with the understanding that the employee will agree to work at any school in the school district. Daily assignments will typically be filled by 8:00 a.m. or earlier in schools whenever a regular employee is absent due to personal leave, illness, or death in family, etc.
Essential Job Functions: • Serves food to students and staff with reasonable speed and accuracy • Uses standard foodservice tools and equipment with reasonable speed and accuracy • Maintains food, supplies, equipment throughout service • Ensures quality appearance of foods on service line • Maintains cheerful disposition while preparing and serving food to customers • Refers to manager for correct portion sizes, temperature, composition and appearance of menu items • Refers to manager for contributing to working environment at maximum efficiency and productivity • Keeps food production, storage, and service areas clean and sanitary • Assists in the preparation of food products at direction of manager • Maintains high quality standards and informs foodservice manager of deficiencies • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions • Demonstrates a willingness to improve skills • Works as a member of the school foodservice team • Maintains positive attitude and cheerful disposition
Note: This list is not inclusive. The employee will be expected to perform any other duties requested by the manager. Must take foodservice sanitation course when offered.
