STEAM Teacher-Glen Lea Elementary School
Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in Collegiate Professional License.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Computers, Elementary Teacher, Success for All, Title I.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.
The license status must be active.
Essential Duties • Directly provides engaging, project-based STEAM lessons to K-5 students in resource classes, reflecting an expert knowledge of multi-disciplinary, hands-on instruction that builds skills in communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and innovation, and research and information fluency • Integrates the elementary standards of the VDOE K-12 Computer Science Standards as appropriately aligned to learning objectives • Communicates and coordinates instruction with other staff including but not limited to classroom teachers, instructional technology staff, exceptional education, gifted, volunteers, administration, and division-level specialists and coordinators • Collaborates with teachers, instructional technology staff, and administration to develop STEAM curriculum plans and materials that are age appropriate and aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework and Henrico County instructional guidelines, priorities, and resources • Maintains effective and positive classroom management in a well-organized learning environment • Maintains an inventory of materials to support the collection and organization of supplies necessary for teaching in a STEAM setting • Supports the integration of STEAM instruction throughout the school by modeling and providing support to classroom teachers • Provides building level support to teachers that increases their content knowledge in STEAM education and teaches new instructional strategies through consultation and lesson modeling • Collaborates with other staff within the building and central office to create and implement programs and events that support and promote STEAM learning • Participates in the identification and review of quality materials and resources that support STEAM experiences for all students • Collects, analyzes, and uses student performance and other data to make instructional decisions and evaluate program effectiveness • Attends professional development and training related to STEAM and core content instruction and stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices related to STEAM instruction and integration • Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, families, school and division staff, patrons, and community agencies • Works collaboratively with staff to provide effective extended day and extended year learning opportunities • Performs other duties as assigned
