Description
FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision performs work in repairing and maintaining HVAC systems
throughout Toledo Public Schools.
DUTIES:
Troubleshoots a variety of HVAC systems to determine nature of malfunction.
- Repairs, adjusts, calibrates, maintains, and replaces controls and related equipment for a variety of HVAC systems.
- Maintains and repairs boilers, including relief valves, gas and oil burners, water columns, blow-down valves, and piping.
- Tears down boilers, cleans, prepares for inspection, and restores to working condition.
- Repairs and replaces pumps pertaining to HVAC system, fans, blowers, dampers, valves, motors, compressors, and controls.
- Instructs new operators on preventive maintenance for HVAC plant and related equipment.
- Assists electricians in the repair and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Interpretive skills (policy, procedure), working knowledge of HVAC systems understanding verbal instruction, reading, effective communication skills (verbal, written), reasoning skills, memorizing, diagnostic skills and customer service skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lifting (up to 50 lbs.), walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, standing for periods of time. Must be able to work in high places over 30 feet and also work in confined spaces.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Outside and inside, temperature extremes, humidity extremes, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, uneven surfaces, works alone, works around machinery with moving parts, and chemical exposure. (fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or G.E.D.
Must possess a current City of Toledo HVAC license.
Must possess a current CFC Universal Certification.
Must possess valid drivers' license and be insurable under the school Board fleet insurance policy.
Five (5) years or more HVAC experience preferred.
Must have own hand tools.
Must pass Toledo Public Schools related skills and physical standards testing
