TITLE:        Weekend   Dormitory Supervisor Fridays and Saturdays
 
GOALS:
 
To maintain a safe, secure environment for the students during the night between the hours of 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM.  To provide medical support as needed.
 
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: 
 
The dormitory supervisor supervises the dorm parents and provides support and assistance to the overall school plan by following through on behavioral management programs, and ensuring the physical safety of the residents, and following through on medical treatments.
 
ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP:
 
            The dormitory supervisor reports to the Executive Director, Nurse, and
            Medical Director
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
High school diploma
Valid Illinois Drivers License
Current Paraprofessional Licensure
60 or more hours college preferred
Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
            Students
 
1.To insure the comfort and security of the students during their normal sleeping hours.
2.To insure that recommended procedures and programs are carried out appropriately at night
3.To disseminate any information on students or their programming to appropriate staff
4.To make decisions regarding non-routine resident needs
5.To attend to students’ medical needs, complete prescribed treatments
6.Complete shift summary and data sheets and student charting as required
           
           
 
 
 
 
Medical
 
1. Administer medication and medical treatments to students as prescribed
2.Perform monthly inventory of medical supplies
3.Chart student medical/health information as needed
4.Thin charts as needed
5.Maintain a clean nursing office before and after each shift
6.Serve as on call nurse 1-2 weekends per month and 1 night per week per schedule
7.Endorse information on students to the AM nurse
8.Assist with nursing overview for student IEPs as assigned
 
Staff Pattern
 
1.Provide input regarding personnel needed at night
2.Coordinate personnel needs on the night shift – schedule night shift breaks
3.To give assistance to dorm parents as needed:
a.Provide coverage for breaks
b.Assist in controlling students maladaptive behavior
c.Assist with students requiring extensive observation or comforting
4.Provide input for night staff evaluations
5.Provide a smooth transition between staff
6.Document and post changes to daily schedules as that information is available
 
Policies and Procedures
 
1.Enforce school policies and procedures
2.Mediate staff differences
3.Handle emergency situations, informing Chief Administrator or Facility Manager as necessary
4.Update Chief Administrator on incidents or problems which may occur
 
Other Activities as deemed necessary by Chief Administrator may include:
 
1.Respond appropriately to parent contact and to report such communications accurately
2.To provide positive reinforcement to staff members as appropriate
3.To complete required reports
a.Student summary sheets
b.Incident reports (in cooperation with nurse)
4.Attend inservice programs and staff meetings as appropriate
5.To insure security of  physical plant
a.Make rounds of facility on a regular basis
b.Report any unusual situations appropriately
c.Delegate duties pertaining to security of physical plant
d.Monitor security systems and provide access for legitimate visitors
6. Order and restock diapers, wipes, gloves as needed.
