BRIEF DESCRIPTION / POSITION SUMMARY:
Plano School District No. 88 is in need of additional substitute teachers for our substitute pool.  We currently utilize the Aesop (Frontline) online system for substitute teacher recruitment.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
Current Illinois Professional Educator License or Substitute License.

TO OBTAIN A SUBSTITUTE LICENSE:
Those interested in substitute teaching are required to hold a valid Professional Educator License or Substitute License, in order to be a substitute teacher in Illinois.  Anyone interested in obtaining a Substitute License must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.

Applicants for substitute teaching should contact the Regional Office of Education (ROE) for processing at 109 W. Ridge Street, Yorkville, IL 60560, 630/553-4168. If you hold a Teaching License, you do not need a Substitute License, but you will need to register your teaching license in Kendall County (at the ROE) and obtain a Substitute Teacher Authorization (see below).

A Substitute License is valid for 5 years and is renewable based upon completion of passing the TAP Test-400 (formerly known as the Basic Skills Test).

You will need to log into the new Educator License Information System site (link below) and create an account.

ELIS:  https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Educator-Licensure-Information-System.aspx

Under Educator Access, click "Click Here"  and then click "Sign Up Now" on the left side.  This will allow you to create an ELIS account.
You will need to have your official transcripts (in a sealed envelope) sent to to the Regional Office of Education showing your bachelor's degree.
Once your account has been created, you will need to apply by credit card for the Substitue License in ELIS, under the Action Center.
It can take up to 120 days for an evaluation to be completed.  After the Sub License is issued, you will need to register the License in Grundy/Kendall #24.

TO OBTAIN A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER AUTHORIZATION:
After the Substitute License is issued and registered in Grundy/Kendall, you will receive a “Substitute Teacher Authorization” from the ROE.

To obtain this authorization, the following must be provided:

  1. An Illinois Teaching License or Substitute License registered in Grundy/Kendall County ROE

  2. Physical Examination, within 90 days

  3. $50 cash or check which covers the required fingerprinting

  4. Fingerprint Authorization and Release Form (obtained at ROE)

  5. Substitute Teacher Information Form (obtained at ROE)

HOW TO APPLY TO SUBSTITUTE TEACH IN THE PLANO SCHOOL DISTRICT:
