Description

Job Description: Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and
responding to emergencies. Customer service orientated.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age, or older
• American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• Pre-employment testing of lifeguarding skills and knowledge

Knowledge / Skills:
• Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue
techniques
• An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
• Leadership and public relation skills, such as customer service and decision making
skills

Responsibilities:
• Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
• Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
• Be alert and patrolling the pool deck while patrons are swimming
• Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment
to the supervisor
• Complete records and reports
• Participate in regular in-service training sessions
• Exercise regularly to maintain fitness level (strength / endurance)
• Complete additional duties such as polishing chrome, washing windows, squeegee
floors (including standing water on pool decks and in locker rooms) and occasional
cleaning of locker rooms
