School Psychologist Practicum

The practicum is designed to apply and practice those skills learned in his/her program.  SCAESIC #618 will make its program available for the purpose of clinical learning in school psychology offering a variety of experiences and age levels.

We offer a minimum of 600 hours of full time practicum experience (can be obtained part-time over two semesters or full time over one). The experience will be in a location selected by the SCAESIC #618 with a licensed school psychologist(s) and provide supervision, evaluation, and mentorship per the practicum agreement. The practicum will consist primarily of school psychological activities in the areas of assessment, consultation, and intervention in both general and special education settings and with pupils at the preschool, elementary, and secondary levels.

Requirements of Practicum Student:
The skills that the practicum student is expected to demonstrate at beginning competency levels are the Performance Indicators of the Kansas State Department of Education’s School License Standards for School Psychology.  These standards and the associated performance indicators constitute the items on the WSU School Psychology Field Experiences Evaluation.
Completion of coursework prior to practicum is preferred in the following areas: Intervention, Consultation, and Diagnostic Evaluation.
Signed practicum agreement with state educational institution with a state approved program for student pursuing their Ed.S. in School Psychology.
Individual transportation will be needed to travel between practicum locations
