Special Education Teacher
Must hold a certificate issued by Illinois State Board of Education.
The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
A Special Education Teacher Therapist with Kiefer School provides academic and behavioral instruction to students on a daily basis. Teachers are responsible for a classroom of up to 10 students, assisted by a Teacher Assistant, and establishing and carrying out the IEP by implementing daily programming, and involving parents as active treatment participants, all while maintaining professional demeanor and boundaries. Teachers are the main change agents for students' academic and behavioral growth. They serve as role models for students. A Teacher Therapist must not only provide for the academic needs of students, but also for the social skill and behavioral needs as well.
