Title I Reading Teacher-Highland Springs Elementary
Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in Collegiate Professional License.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Reading, Reading Specialist.
The license must be in one of the following grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.
The license status must be active.
This is a 231-day contract to work same hours as the Achievable Dream Certified Academy at Highland Springs Elementary. Must demonstrate the ability to develop curriculum and effective programs in the area of reading. Must possess the ability to collect and analyze observational and assessment data to monitor and enhance instructional effectiveness. Must demonstrate the ability to plan, model, and deliver current researched-based best practices in literacy instruction. Exhibits considerable knowledge of learning theory and best practices. Must be able to work collaboratively with team members, to serve as a liaison between teachers, school based administration, elementary education and Federal Programs. Acts in the best interests of students and models appropriate behaviors in all professional interactions. Essential Duties *Plans instructional activities for students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and using state *Standards of Learning and the curriculum of the district *Uses current school and division data to plan instruction *Develops formative and summative tests, using multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and adjusts instruction to meet group and individual needs *Maintains order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment *Maintains records of student performance and attendance, and communicates this effectively with students and their parents *Selects, requests, and uses a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students *Communicates and coordinates instruction with other staff (Ex Ed, gifted, remediation staff, volunteers, etc.) relative to student learning *Stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools *Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues. *Incorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning. *Performs other duties as assigned
