BRIEF DESCRIPTION / POSITION SUMMARY:
Yorkville CUSD 115 has an opening at Yorkville High School for a Guidance Counselor position for the 2026-2027 School Year. Yorkville High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and relationship-driven High School Guidance Counselor committed to ensuring every student is known, supported, and empowered to achieve success across college, career, academic, and social-emotional domains. We are seeking an educator who fosters a positive, inclusive, and student-centered environment grounded in high expectations, belonging, advocacy, and personalized support for all learners.
The ideal candidate will embrace a comprehensive, ASCA-aligned school counseling framework and demonstrate a passion for supporting students through individualized academic planning, postsecondary readiness, social-emotional growth, and responsive student support services. This individual will collaborate closely with students, families, staff, administrators, and community partners to create systems and experiences that promote student engagement, achievement, wellness, and future readiness.
Purpose Statement: The job of the High School Guidance Counselor was established for the purpose of cultivating a proactive, personalized, and student-centered system of support that advances college, career, academic, and social-emotional readiness for all students. This position supports students through individualized planning, responsive services, data-informed interventions, and collaborative partnerships that remove barriers to success and ensure students are prepared for postsecondary opportunities and lifelong success.
Reports to: Student Support Services Division Chair, Deans & Associate Principal of Student Services.
Experience:
- Previous successful experience in school counseling preferred
Experience working in a secondary school setting preferred
Certificates Licenses
Illinois Professional Educator License with School Counselor Endorsement
Starting Salary $60,386 /MS+0, year 1 extended salary schedule
