K8 Behavior Interventionist Job Description
A Behavior Interventionist provides behavioral support to students identified by K8 Administration or the K8 Dean who need additional assistance implementing a behavior plan. This role plays a vital part in fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture by building strong relationships with students and staff and using empathy, patience, and consistency to help students develop the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed for success. The Behavior Interventionist collaborates with administrators, teachers, students, and families to implement proactive behavior supports and effective interventions aligned with Prospect Ridge Academy's mission and vision.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement a K8 school-wide behavior management system with meaningful and logical incentives and consequences.
- Model the school's mission and values for professional conduct.
- Provide social, emotional, and/or behavioral interventions as a result of MTSS. May include assisting with the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) process.
- Respond to large-scale and small-scale student crises as needed.
- Communicate consistently and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Support the K8 Dean with professional development presentations on behavior management.
- Work directly with the K8 Dean and K8 Counselors to support students in conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies.
- Assist administrators with discipline as it arises to hold students accountable, including but not limited to monitoring detentions and Mindful Miners, and communicating with students and families.
- Assist the K8 Dean with data collection, behavior, and dress code contracts and behavior infractions through Infinite Campus, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, and 5Star Students.
- Follow policies established by the Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors, Adams 12 School District, and Colorado State-mandated school guidelines, except where PRA has received waivers.
Education and Related Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred).
- Experience working with school-age children.
- Experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach.
Skills and Abilities
- Commitment to the implementation of Character Education and Positive Behavior System.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as rules, policy, and expectations, agreements, rubrics, scope, and sequence documents.
- Understand and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various groups.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate tasks.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self-motivated.
- Ability to be mindful, solution-based, and skills-based when working with all stakeholders, most importantly, students.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with their hands.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Required vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Provide backup assistance and coverage for other areas.

- Work may occasionally be performed outside with exposure to varying temperatures.
- This position includes contact with students, staff, Administrators, Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors, and parents.
- Work hours may occasionally be extended.
Reporting Relationship
- This position reports to the K8 Dean.

Hiring Range: $21.40 - $24.08
