Interventionist (K-5)

The goal of the Intervention Specialist is to provide direct support and intervention to students in grades K-12 who need additional support in reading, writing, and/or mathematics and to provide leadership, collaboration, and support to teachers towards designing and implementing intervention strategies.

• Provides small group instruction or interventions, collaboratively in the classroom or in a separate setting, to non proficient or fragile students in reading, writing, and/or mathematics using research-based models
• Provides expert knowledge about best intervention practices, instructional strategies and practices to classroom teachers for implementation as applicable
• Serves on the Student Support Team to assist in the development of intervention strategies and plans
• Promotes and models peer collaboration
• Collaborates with classroom teachers in grades K-5 to assist in the development, administration, and analysis of assessments
• Monitors formative and summative student assessments to plan instructional programming to meet the needs of students served
• Collaborates with school administration to determine student service plans/schedules.
• Implements test-prep strategies with identified students, as needed
• Assists classroom teachers in the development of proficiency portfolios for reading, writing and mathematics
• Perform related duties as assigned by the School Principal
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures 

• Valid N.C. teaching license required
• Reading licensure preferred
• Master's Degree or advanced studies in curriculum and instruction, reading, mathematics, science or related field preferred
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Prior successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
• Other qualifications that are acceptable to the Board of Education

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
