Position Title: ASD Paraprofessional (Long Term Substitute position) 6 weeks

Aitkin Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional to join our Communication Interaction Program, which serves students in grades K–6 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other communication-related needs.
Position Summary:
This position provides direct support to students with a range of disabilities, working closely with the special education team to promote student success and independence in both academic and social settings. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to supporting individualized learning plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instructional and behavioral support under the direction of licensed staff.
Support the implementation of each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Assist with academic activities, social-emotional development, and daily routines.
Collect and document student data as directed for progress monitoring and IEP updates.
Participate in team meetings, trainings, and regular paraprofessional collaboration.
Maintain consistent communication with teachers, case managers, and administrators.
Foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with students with ASD or other developmental disabilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to follow individualized plans and adapt to student needs.
Willingness to learn and engage in professional development.
