Facilities Maintenance Assistant –Part Time
 
Qualifications                 
Education –
High school graduate. Must be 18 years old.
Experience – A valid State driver's license is necessary.
Personal – Pleasant personality. Must be reliable and show initiative, tact, and productivity.
Knowledge and Ability - Must be able to learn the proper use of hand tools, operation of grounds equipment and  trucks, mechanical knowledge and ability a plus.
 
Essential Functions          
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks and the Assistant Superintendents of Parks, the Facilities Maintenance Assistant shall complete his/her assigned duties to the best of his/her abilities, and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
  • The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is a position that helps or assists full time facilities maintenance staff with projects and maintenance items, it includes some inspections as well as daily tasks that would be assigned to them.
  • The ability to effectively maintain assigned areas and facilities as directed by Supervisory personnel. Some daily items could be building checks during cold periods, assisting with furnace or A/C cleaning, assisting with seasonal aquatic or park start-ups or shut downs.  Replacing light bulbs, keeping shop and trucks organized and clean.
  • The ability to be responsible to the Facilities Manager, Assistant Superintendents of Parks and any other supervisor as assigned.
  • The ability to willingly work over and above required daily hours when necessary. Hours can be flexible to accommodate a school schedule or other commitments with approval.
  • The ability to operate motor equipment as needed or required.
  • The ability to work with fellow workers as well as have the ability to work alone without supervision.
  • The ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public and cooperating agencies, as well as fellow employees.
  • The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Park District's safety program
 
Marginal Functions                        
The Facilities Maintenance Assistant will also:
  • Assist with special events
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Assist with building maintenance
