STARTING HOURLY RATE: $19.19 - $20.06 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

SUMMARY:
The ELL Student/ Parent Liaison provides resources and supports to campus English Language Learner (ELL) departments by providing individual contact and follow up to students and families. Administers State- approved tests for English oral, reading and writing proficiency for English Language Learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Contacts parents/guardians of no-show students and students with extended attendance issues.
- Provides assistance and orientation to students and families; makes referrals to social agencies, and PXU support services. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support students and families.
- Distributes, collects and completes documentation for students participating in the ELL Program. Inputs data and information in the student information system, maintaining ELL fields. Maintains accurate physical/electronic documentation of individual student assessment data and program status.
- Administers and scores State – approved tests of English oral, reading, and writing proficiency; conducts annual reassessment of English Language Learners.
- Administers, scores and evaluates results of designated oral, reading and writing language assessments.
- Assists in placement of students in the correct level of English, according to scores. Assists in review of achievement of reclassified ELL students.
- Assists in organization of Home Language parent surveys, meetings and trainings, verification of correct placement and scheduling of students.
- Completes follow ups for all reclassified students; compiles and prints grades and attendance of each student.
- Gathers information on student schedules, attendance and grades using the student information system. Provides data and reports related to program requirements.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of experience working in an ELL program or as an Instructional Assistant; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy.
- Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
