Hourly Rate: $13.70/hr
Job Goal:
To assist the Food Service Head Cook in food preparation, including cooking and baking, serving, clean-up, and the planning of all meals during scheduled shift.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Positions assigned to the Food Service Server classification are distinguished by the responsibility to provide assistance in preparation for lunch set up and clean–up independently.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed for the position.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
- Food service experience preferred
- Ability to prepare food, including, salads, work with portion control, and handle money
- Ability to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens, other related school kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils
- Ability to supervise student helpers who work in the kitchen/cafeteria
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for basic preparation of food, in a safe manner
- Prepare and serve food
- Assist in the set up of serving areas
- Assist in the serving of food to students and staff making sure supplies of food and beverages are maintained and spills cleaned up
- Responsible for proper storage of food and supplies
- Responsible for daily cleaning and storage of equipment and dishes
- Responsible for following standards of efficiency and sanitation set by the Health Department and Head Cook I – II / Food Service Director
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of food and equipment
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
- Participate in in-service training as assigned
- Act as a friendly ambassador for the North Bend School District
- Other duties as assigned
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
- Must possess (or ability to obtain) a valid Food Handler’s Certificate (OAR 333.175.000)
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Pre-employment drug screen
- SafeSchools Training as required
Physical Demands:
- Moderate degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and prolonged periods of standing
- Exposure to noise, heat, cold, hot and cold surfaces, sharp and moving equipment
- Requires coordination and dexterity to prepare foods
- Ability to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas to perform food preparation and food serving duties
