EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher - Spanish - TRS Eligible
Description
Job Description: The EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher shall provide instruction to help potentially English proficient (PEP) students develop cognitive, academic, and language abilities in Spanish and English. The teacher will provide pull-out and push-in services to small groups of students ranging from K-8.
Primary responsibilities:
Identify and assess the academic level, language proficiency level, cultural history, and linguistic history of students who are eligible for bilingual services
Provide bilingual instruction to small groups of students in grades K-8 using a collaborative TBE model (pull-out or push-in services based on student need)
Collaborate with the EL Department to ensure best practices through service delivery
Make recommendations as to the best placement within the Transitional Bilingual Program (full-time or part-time)
Reports to: Director of Instruction & Innovation
Requirements: Must meet ONE of the following ISBE requirements for a bilingual educator: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish OR Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-VIT) with a passing score on the English proficiency test OR ELS-TBE with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish OR Short Term Approval (PEL with 9 hours of coursework in bilingual education or a passing score on the Spanish language proficiency test).
