ADMINISTRATIVE RULE - JOB DESCRIPTION
SHERRARD UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #200
POSITION TITLE: Tier 3 Support Teacher for grades seven through twelve
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Illinois Substitute Teacher certification required.
Illinois certification in either grades 6-8 or 9-12 (specific content certification is not required) preferred
Experience in teaching is preferred.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, faculty, and administrators.
REPORTS TO: Administrator assigned by Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To provide classroom instruction to students enrolled in a supportive setting in order to stay on track for graduation
SUMMARY: Create positive and effective classroom climate with high quality instruction for students enrolled in an alternative school setting.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides supervision of students in educational settings.
Provides small group instruction to students enrolled in a supportive school setting separate from their peers.
Oversee academic progress of students on Plato credit recovery program.
Assists in the development and implementation of individual education service plans for students and organizes a daily schedule and plan instructional activities.
Administer student assessments to ascertain academic needs of students enrolled in an alternative setting.
Works collaboratively with school and agency counselors, parents/guardians, related service providers, administrators, and other pertinent personnel.
Maintains student records and files in a confidential manner.
Keeps accurate documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, etc. (i.e. grades, observations, anecdotal records, other related data).
Keeps daily student attendance records.
Communicates with parents/guardians, administrators, and related service providers on an as needed basis.
Serves on various teams, committees on an as needed basis.
Submits all reports, forms, records, and data as requested by administration.
Attend required and appropriate training, workshops, and professional development courses.
Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, administration, school staff, parents/guardians, students, and related service providers.
Attends all staff meetings.
Provide required accommodations to IEP and 504 students if necessary.
Create and maintain a positive, thoughtful, and educational classroom environment.
Provide direction for paraprofessionals assigned to the alternative school program.
Schedule off campus career related field trips, job shadows, and guest speakers
Primary teacher for Study Skills and Social-Emotional classes.
Primary teacher for students assigned to the program.
Provide sheltered (focused) study hall for students assigned to the program.
Assist with the implementation of SEL and Executive Functioning curriculum.
Salary will be based on the certified salary schedule adopted by the Sherrard Unit School District #200.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluations.
