Description
Title of this Position: Substitute Teacher/Para
Reports To: Substitute Coordinator
The Substitute Teacher/Para is responsible for providing a quality education in the absence of a staff member in accordance with the plans and job responsibilities left by that individual.
Qualities needed to thrive in this role:
- Relationships- the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and key school stakeholders across the school
- Knowledge- a working knowledge of best practices, our current charter, State and local expectations, and each student’s IEP and 504 accommodations and goals that you will be responsible for
- Dedication- a desire to aid all students excel academically and socially as pertaining to their peers and the plans left
- Community- the ability to support teacher systems and procedures within the classroom and continue an uninterrupted curriculum and schedule
Under the supervision of the Substitute Coordinator, the Substitute Teacher/Para will:
- Assess and become acquainted with the schedule for the day and get all students to the appropriate locations in a timely manner
- Continue the assigned curriculum and workload as directed by the teacher/para
- Handle student concerns
- Use designated personnel to support student needs
- Communicate results, successes, and challenges with teacher when they return
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- A High School Diploma
- Previous experience or work in an education facility desired
Skills
Ability to:
- Communicate accurately and effectively with various levels of staff
- Remain organized with filing and systems within classroom
- Management of classroom behaviors
- Facilitate and complete lesson plans
Compensation:
This positon will require intermittent work throughout the 10 month school year as decided by your schedule and availability not to exceed 29 hours a week
Compensation: Based on education and licenses
