William Allen High School
Salary Range: $132,318 -  $185,246


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a major in educational leadership, educational supervision, or a related field from an accredited college or university; doctorate preferred.
  • Eligible or hold a Pennsylvania Principal Certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a school administrator, preferable in an urban, turnaround, and/or high-needs environment.
  • Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34 and 151).

Summary
Directs and coordinates administrative, academic and social emotional initiatives consistent with improving student outcomes by performing the following duties personally and/or through subordinate administrators. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates in establishing clear approaches to measuring student growth and measures it by individual student. Intentions of ensuring that every student has an opportunity to go to college or post-secondary schooling.
  • Provide transformational leadership necessary to plan, launch, and manage the turnaround process in a chronically underperforming school by designing and implementing strategies to dramatically improve student achievement.Build a positive school culture and climate that supports the whole student.
  • Leverages research and data to drive initiatives and instruction.
  • Build a high-performing staff and leadership team to achieve and sustain results through collaborative efforts.
  • Provides supervision, leadership, annual evaluations of each professional employee and support staff that includes timely and constructive feedback; Use of the evaluations, at a minimum, to inform decisions regarding developing the professional staff, including providing relevant coaching, induction support, and/or professional development.
  • Collaborate with parents, families, community members, school staff, district administrators, as well as other internal and external stakeholders to implement innovative strategies to accelerate student achievement.
  • Collaborates in conducting regular staff data review meetings; bi-weekly leadership data team meeting and engages in weekly teacher collaborative planning meetings.
  • Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school; Insures proper placement of students within the overall educational program.
  • Reviews and discusses the school’s goals articulated in its school improvement plan and use data to assess whether the school is on track to achieving the goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the departments of Student Services, ESOL, and The Office of Teaching and Learning in the design, and implementation of projects and programs that will meet the specific needs of students.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director of Instruction to execute the goals identified in the Allentown School District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets professional journals, research based best practices and stays informed of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Helps parents/guardians/students in resolving student/parent/staff complaints and safety concerns.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership team in establishing safety net programs that will maximize opportunity and access for students to stay on track to graduation.
  • Works in establishing annual staffing plans to meet the enrollment and instructional needs of the school.
  • Interfaces with the Director of Assessment and Accountability in using data to make informed decisions.
  • Oversees initiation, design, and implementation of projects and programs that will meet the specific needs of students including those with disabilities.
  • Supervises building discipline, student, faculty, and staff attendance, and class schedules, cumulative records, and grade reporting ensuring that all are consistent with district policies and regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with colleges, community partners, and other schools to coordinate educational services.
  • Supervises extracurricular programs and evaluates these programs by regular attendance at these events.
  • Computes pupil/teacher ratios, percentages, and interprets bar graphs and other data pertinent to educational leadership and instructional achievement.
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
  • Selects programs, sets purpose, and provides foundational knowledge on freshman success work for grade-level teachers.
  • Identifies team leadership (Team Lead, data technician, social-emotional learning specialist, etc.) and communicates expectations for their engagement with Freshman Success Team.
  • Sets goals for on-track and student connection with the Success Team and team leadership.
  • Provides and protects team meeting calendar, with regular and sufficient time for 1) data analysis and 2) intervention development, monitoring, and adjustment.
  • Provides professional development and training opportunities on classroom practices that support  students’ successful transition to high school, data strategy, and social-emotional learning.
  • Reviews and interrogates interim freshman success-related data considering Success Team goals and strategizes with team leadership around next steps.
  • Holds teachers accountable for implementing equitable grading practices.
  • Communicates a clear vision for instruction.
  • Supports teacher development through proactive walk-throughs, observation, and constructive feedback around instructional practice.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Superintendent of Schools, or designee.
