Job Title: TEMPORARY - Athletic Trainer Assistant - Athletics Department Reports To: Executive Director of Athletics, Lead Athletic Trainer Classification: Temporary Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: Start Date: To Be Determined Salary: See Compensation Plan - Temporary ($35/hour) Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the coordination of coverage for all athletic and designated UIL programs as needed. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Licensed by the Texas State Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
- NATA BOC Certification preferred.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate and/or TSATA Sports Medicine Instructor (or willing to obtain).
- Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide emergency care.
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuries.
- Ability to follow district guidelines and protocols and to actively communicate with all necessary parties at an athletic event site when on duty and whenever a student injury arises at an athletic event.
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
- Three (3) or more years of relative experience. Experience in secondary education preferred.
Responsibilities: Support:
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents including medical, accident, and treatment records as required.
