TITLE: I-505 - Before and After Care Program Site Lead Caregiver - STIPEND
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The Site Lead Caregiver shall have a minimum of a high school diploma and 2 years experience working with school-aged children. He/She shall meet the qualifications required by the school laws of the State of New Jersey and the Wayne Township Board of Education. Advanced education or professional experience in youth programs, supervision, program implementation and/or program development is preferred, but not required.
REPORTS TO: Youth Programs Specialist
JOB GOAL: Assists the Youth Programs Specialist in meeting the school community’s needs and desires for site-based school-aged childcare; provides daily coordination and supervision of the site Before and After Care Program; provides direct caregiver duties as needed; implements mandatory monthly updates by the Youth Programs Specialist to ensure quality of operations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants in the Before and After Care Program.
Provides leadership and direction to the childcare team.
Greets and assists participants and parents when they are arriving and departing from the Before and After Care Program.
Facilitates group activities in the program rooms.
Redirects, deescalates, and reinforces appropriate interactions and social skills.
Assists with setup and distribution of snacks, equipment and other supplies. Ensure all supplies are cleaned up and the room is left as it was found.
Actively supervises participants in common areas as well as on the playground.
Supports and aids participants during a quiet and calm homework time.
Supervises and participates in the accurate and timely completion of the site Before and After Care Program paperwork, including but not limited to: participant attendance rosters, incident reports, accident reports, caregiver notices, time sheets, site log sheets, inventory lists.
Documents and reports all accidents, concerns and behavioral incidents to the designated parties.
Interfaces with parents/guardians in order to meet the participant’s needs, including but not limited to: listening and responding to concerns and/or forwarding concerns to the Youth Programs Specialist as needed, handing out incident reports, participating in parent/guardian meetings with Youth Programs Specialist as needed, coordinating Caregiver attendance at school support meetings as directed by the Youth Programs Specialist, logging all phone messages, calling parents/guardians when the participant is absent when no reason given, and completing other program tracking forms as needed to ensure the safety of children and the smooth functioning of the program.
Ensures the Program procedures and schedules are followed: intervene as necessary to improve program delivery, forward any problems or concern to the Youth Programs Specialist in a timely manner.
Notifies Caregivers of schedule changes, emergency closings, and substitutes for other Site Lead Caregivers when necessary.
Serves as the enhanced communication link between the program Caregivers and the Program Assistants to improve program response time to Caregiver, participant and parent/guardian concerns.
Ensures optimum safety and quality in delivery of the Before and After Care Program.
Accepts change in site assignment when deemed necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
ANNUAL EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on the evaluation of non-certificated staff.
