SUMMARY OF POSITION:           A caring, certified teacher, with knowledge of, and experience in, teaching using a holistic approach to learning.  The teacher shall understand and be able to apply principles of cooperative learning and have an understanding of the Michigan Standards of Quality for teaching. 
REPORTS TO:                                   Marc McKenzie, CMS Principal

COMPENSATION:                             Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement, will consider years of service


   Essential Skills:
  1. In-depth understanding of students in grades 6 through 8.
  2. Shall provide and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials and techniques that best meet the needs of individual students.
  3. Demonstrate a competency in technology.
  4. Familiar with assertive discipline.
  5. Shall provide the leadership and direction of classroom aides working with students
  6. Shall be responsible for the maintenance, disciplinary and instructional activities in the classroom, in transit and in other school settings where no other professional is in charge.
  7. Shall make appropriate referrals.
  8. Shall participate in IEP’s when needed.
  9. Shall meet with parents at scheduled conferences.
  10. Able to work as part of a team.
  11. To keep all student, parent, and staff information confidential
  12. To keep a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs.
  13. Demonstrate a competency in technology.
  14. Cooperate with teachers, students and administration
  15. Must be willing to lift and restrain students when necessary.
  16. To ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
  17. To meet and greet visitors in a positive, helpful manner.
  18. Must be willing to lift and restrain students as necessary.
  19. Other duties as assigned by principal.
      Other Skills:
  1. To maintain daily lesson plans.
  2. To use proper phone etiquette at all times.
  3. Show an interest in after-school activities, including coaching.
  1. Must be certified by the State of Michigan in math.
  2. Multiple endorsements preferred.
  3. Must meet or exceed North Central Requirements.
  4. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  5. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
  6. Ability to work well with staff, parents and students.
  7. Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills
  8. Must demonstrate competency in the classroom.
  9. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job expectation.
  10. Ability to follow through on committments.
  11. Must be able to wrok cooperatively with others.
  12. Must act in a professional manner.
  13. Must receive a satisfactory response to P.A. 189 letter (Misconduct Law).
  14. Must satisfactorily pass:
       a.     Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting.
       b.     Personal and professional reference background check.
