THE FOLLOWING POSITION IS AVAILABLE FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

FULL TIME PARAPROFESSIONAL

CARROLLTON HIGH SCHOOL
 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The full time paraprofessional will be assigned to assist with the care of students at Carrollton High School.
 
REPORTS TO:                   Building Principal Shawn Thelen and Special Education Supervisor Jackie Schacher
 
COMPENSATION:           As per the Paraprofessional Contract. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:                        
  1. Ability to cooperate with teachers, students and administration; work as part of a team.
  2. Shall attend required workshops and in-services to receive additional training to improve job skills.
  3. To keep all student, parent, and staff information confidential.
  4. To keep a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs.
  5. Demonstrate a competency in technology; work with Skyward, Microsoft office, Google docs, etc.
  6. Shall be able to utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials and techniques that best meet the needs of indivudual students.
  7. Ability and willingness to provide behavioral modifications when necessary.
  8. Have an in-depth understanding of high school students.
  9. Cooperate with teachers, students and administration.
  10. To ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
  11. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job expectation.
  12. Ability to follow through on commitments.
  13. Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
  14. Must act in a professional manner.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
  16. Successful completion of a probationary period as outlined by the Carrollton Association of Paraprofessional’s contract
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Preferred individual have a degree or pass Work Keys Tests.
  2. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  4. Basic computer knowledge
  5. Must be sensitive to student needs
  6. Must satisfactory pass
    1. Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting at own expense
    2. Personal and professional reference background check
  7. Must receive a satisfactory response to a P.A. 189 letter (Misconduct Law)
