Head Varsity Boys Baseball Coach

Job Summary:

As the Head Varsity Baseball  Coach for Mississinewa High School,  you will play a crucial role in leading and developing our young athletes. You'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Baseball program, ensuring its success and the well-being of all team members. Ultimately, creating a holistic program that is in alignment with the Vision and Values of the Mississinewa Community Schools, High Schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Execute Practices and Games:
    • You will design and implement comprehensive practice and game plans, focusing on improving players' skills, fitness, and teamwork. Safety and adherence to the rules of the game will be paramount.
  • Develop and Mentor Players:
    • Identify individual strengths and weaknesses among players, and create personalized training plans to support their growth. Building strong relationships with the players, providing mentorship, and encouraging academic success and sportsmanship will be essential.
  • Create an Off-Season and Limited Contact Skill Development Program 
    • The programming  must meet the Baseball program’s needs and work harmoniously with any in-season program.
  • Support and Assist the Baseball program accountability for the Strength Program  
    • We have a tremendous Head Strength Coach and athletic development process.  Our Baseball coach will be an advocate and provide the Baseball program’s accountability system to ensure commitment.
  • Oversee the management of the Baseball Program:
    • Ensure the financial health of the program's budget. 
    • Stay up to date on IHSAA Rules and Regulations 
    • Maintain Updated Program Rosters
    • Inventory Equipment
    • Work with the Athletic Director proactively about program needs 
    • Keep MaxPreps updated with competition results 
    • Submit Media Report after Competitions 
    • Communicate Student-Athlete Achievements, records, and accomplishments with the Athletic Department
    • Work with the Athletic Director to Ensure Eligibility
    • Work respectfully with our Athletic Trainer concerning our student-athletes’ health and return to play processes. 
    • Communicate proactively with Parents through SportsYou concerning Senior night, Banquets, Practice Schedules, and schedule changes.
    • Express Respect and Support of officials in competition 
  • Middle School Program Involvement:
    • Work closely with middle school coaches and athletes, understanding their strengths and weaknesses. Provide clear vision, values, and philosophy to create a collaborative Middle School through High School program. 
  • Collaborate with Other Coaches and Administration:
    • Your ability to work harmoniously with other coaches and athletic staff is crucial. Coordinating practice and game schedules and aligning all sports programs with the school's vision and values will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you'll work with school administration to uphold athletics-related policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Prior coaching experience at the high school or college level is desirable.
  • Profound knowledge of Baseball rules and strategies is essential.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills are crucial for success.
  • The ability to motivate players and foster a positive team environment is a must.
  • You should be adept at working collaboratively with school administration, other coaches, and parents.
