TITLE:                                  Community School Specialist
1.     A Maryland Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate (APC)
2.     A minimum of three years successful teaching experience 
3.  Master’s Degree and Advanced Professional Certification     Preferred
4.  Such qualification as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO:                     Principal                                     
JOB GOAL:                     To establish strategic partnerships between the school and other community resources that promote student achievement, positive learning conditions, and the well being of students by providing wraparound services and academic enrichment experiences.  The specialist will ensure that the initiatives and programs address and support system-wide goals and are aligned to the guidelines and requirements of the Maryland State Department of Education and Senate Bill 1030.
1. Provides leadership for the development of the community schools program plan, conducts need assessments and data gathering for planning, involves community partners in training and planning, and educates community partners on project responsibilities and procedures. 
2.  Coordinate wraparound services and extended learning experiences that address the needs of students and families within the school community.
3.  Promotes the school and district in a positive manner at all times.
4. Work with the principal to collect and analyze social/emotional and academic data, interventions and the work of academic tutors.
5. Work with MSDE to ensure all program information is current and accurate, and files reports required in a timely manner
6. Design professional development which aligns to state and county goals and is data driven
7. Work in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning, school staff, parents, students, and MSDE to design presentations which highlight the school.  Shares information regularly with community groups, committees, and other stakeholders.
8.  Involve parents and build community support for improved achievement
9. Support the fidelity of the school-based intervention and appropriate assistance programs
10.  React to change productively and maintains regular, on-time attendance
11.  Perform other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       As found in the Agreement Between the Kent County Teachers’ Association and The Board of Education of Kent County.  Ten (10) month position.
SALARY LANE:                              Teacher’s lane. Step established by the Superintendent.
BARGAINING UNIT:                     Kent County Teachers’ Association.
FLSA STATUS:                                Exempt
EVALUATION:                                Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
