Description of Position
The Food Service Manager operates the school food service program for students, faculty and staff.
Area of Responsibility
Duties include but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate food service with school activities
- Train, supervise, direct, evaluate each employee on staff
- Receipt and deposit cafeteria funds daily
- Submit orders to purchase food
- Observe and enforce all safety rules and safe food handling
- Maintain high standards in relation to personal hygiene and sanitation. (This includes wearing a hair net and seeing that workers wear hair nets at all times)
- Keep up with daily use and daily items received
- Check temperature of freezer, storage room, milk box cooler
- Supervise line and take care of needs
- Substitute for cafeteria workers in their absence
- Keep inventory of equipment and food
- Prepare work schedule
- Account for all transactions handled daily
- Check students’ attendance report
- Receive and verify deliveries
- Communicate with Food Service Director to report problems, needs, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Food Service Director or Administration
- Demonstrate proficiency in use of computer with point of service and inventory programs
