License and Certification Qualifications: None required.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field required.
Experience Qualifications: Five years related experience required.
Skills Qualifications: High degree of skill in oral and written communication; high degree of skill in organization and problem-solving; ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to work well with business and industry contacts; and ability to project and generate positive attitudes.
Primary Responsibilities: Develop, facilitate, and coordinate the curriculum and instruction of secondary Career and Technical Education instructional programs that support the mission and vision of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).
1. Plan for strategic improvement of secondary Career and Technical Education instructional programs.
a. Assist with compiling, analyzing, and reporting data for key stakeholders.
b. Support, facilitate, and coordinate secondary Career and Technical Education programs which includes an emphasis on career clusters/pathways and academic integration.
c. Work in conjunction with supervisor to prepare and submit all necessary Career and Technical Education reports to document expenditures, revenue, program quality, and Career and Technical Education enrollment.
d. Maintain knowledge of current federal and state legislation and local policies.
2. Provide assistance in developing and implementing secondary Career and Technical Education curriculum.
a. Provide support to Career and Technical Education teachers and personnel within the local school system.
b. Provide technical assistance and support to teachers and other Career and Technical Education staff to improve the instructional process, document student learning, and improve student outcomes to ensure the success of students in a high-wage, high-skill, or high-demand global economy.
c. Encourage and support the improvement of instruction through a current knowledge of educational initiatives.
d. Provide high quality, classroom-focused professional development that has a positive and lasting impact on classroom instruction and teacher’s performance in the classroom
3. Lead and support the work-based learning programs.
a. Serve on county-wide employment and lab committees and help the local work- based learning instructors develop job placements.
b. Serve and actively participate as the Career and Technical Education liaison concerning a variety of district and state committees as an educational leader and voice for Career and Technical Education and post-secondary and workforce readiness.
c. Assist with partnerships and collaboration by promoting articulations through collaboration with community colleges and other post-secondary programs, as well as business and industry partnerships.
d. Maintain a current knowledge base of Career and Technical Education latest trends, developments, and research including labor market and economic development trends.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
