Openings for Student Teachers in School District 59
Ongoing throughout the school year

Application Process:
Prospective candidates for all student teaching positions must be directed by their university placement office to submit an online application.
In order to be considered for a student teaching position, applicants must upload to their online application the following documents:

  1. A letter of request for placement from the university
  2. Copy of passing test results for TAP (or ACT or SAT)
  3. All applicable transcripts
  4. A personal data sheet or resume

Procedures for Placement:
Before beginning the student teaching placement, the following items must be on file with Human Resources:
  1. A physical exam performed no more than one year prior to the start of your assignment
  2. Proof of a negative TB test result completed within the last year (only if student teaching in an Early Childhood class)
  3. A fingerprint background check (provide a valid state issued photo ID) - contact Dianna in Human Resources at 847-593-4414 to schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted
  4. A money order payable to CCSD59 in the amount of $28.25 to cover the cost of the fingerprinting
    • a. Exact cash is accepted for payment
    • b. Fingerprinting fee is waived for student teachers attending one of our partner schools or universities
  5. Verification of completion of the mandatory online training tutorials

Selection Process & Guidelines for Admission to the Student Teaching Program:
The number of student teachers accepted varies from year to year based upon the number of available cooperating teachers in the content area, program changes, and other district issues.
