Classroom teachers are responsible for actively delivering the school’s curriculum and ensuring student learning that meets established standards in a collaborative/co-teacher model.  With a commitment to continuously improving one’s practice, curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team, teachers work to achieve strong student results.   Teachers, in addition to holding instructional responsibilities, serve as student advisors and community leaders and play an integral part in the life of the school.  All support the development of Link scholars working towards strong student growth, admission to competitive high schools and lifelong success.

Substitute teachers serve a critical role by maintaining strong systems and procedures and acadmic support, in the absence of a teacher (for illness or professional development). The classroom teacher leaves thoughtful plans for the substitute teacher to implement.
 
Expectations:
  • Provide instruciton by deliver the plans left by the classroom teacher, collaborating with the teacher when advance notice is provided
  • Maintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students
  • Maintain an organized, structured, well managed classroom learning environment, adhereing to classrom and school policies that are fair and consistently applied
  • Actively support a positive school culture for all members of the community
  • Cover teacher duties,  including morning, lunch/recess, bus as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Successful teaching/substitute experience
  • Successful completion of 60 undergraduate college credits required; undergraduate degree a plus.
  • Familiarity with middle school subjects and knowledge of effective teaching strategies and techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage the interest of and connect with young people
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of children and to work well with parents
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, bringing a positive attitude, strong personal drive and motivation, joy, flexibility and a sense of humor  
  • Appropriate grade level/content area NJ Teaching Certification a plus
  • Required criminal history check, medical exam, and residency in New Jersey
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
  • Commitment to Link Community Charter School’s mission, vision and Core Values
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Physical Requirements
  • Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing steps, bending, etc. to actively engage in instruction and move about a four story buidling
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of 60 undergraduate credits. Bachelors from an accredited college or university, a plus.
