Description

Primary Purpose and Function
 
Lead and motivate students in a collaborative endeavor of rigorous learning and instruction. ASPIRA educators are characterized by a relentless belief in the potential of the students we serve; a solutions-oriented mindset; and a passion for providing rigorous and high-quality instruction to all of our students. ASPIRA educators are excellent communicators in the classroom, with parents and stakeholders, and with their colleagues, team members and school leadership.  The ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is an essential quality for all of our teachers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement unit and lesson plans utilizing Common Core State Standards
  • Ability to learn Competency-based curriculum
  • Create course syllabi, curriculum maps, and modules for each quarter
  • Apply Understanding by Design in planning of classes
  • Create and maintain a positive and achievement-oriented learning environment
  • Establish systems of accountability for students and self
  • Utilize formative, summative and anecdotal data in differentiating instruction for all students
  • Provide RtI and relentlessly pursue appropriate interventions to facilitate learning for all
  • Apply and understand PBIS in classroom and throughout the school setting
  • Communicate with parents regularly in order to inform about student progress and engage them in the instructional program
  • Serve as a member of grade level and departmental teams, making a significant contribution in order to help drive student success
  • Collaborate and communicate with colleagues in a true professional learning community
  • Craft professional goals in order to improve professional practice and student achievement
  • Maintain records in accordance with school, city, state and federal regulations
  • Actively participate in faculty/team, open houses, parent conferences, educational conferences, training workshops and other related activities
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal
 
Qualifications/Certifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.

  • Illinois professional educator license

  • Must have a Biology endorsement

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Track record of positive impact on student achievement
  • Life-long learner who is receptive to feedback
