Classroom Teacher

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers.

Full time 10-month position (190 contract days).
Contract Unit:  This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit.
FLSA:  Exempt


  • Eligibility for the Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate with the proper endorsement.  IMPORTANT NOTE for Out-of-State Applicants:   Out-of-state applicants can request a Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) if they hold a valid out-of-state certificate.    For certification requirements please refer to the Maryland State Department of Education certification webpage. For Maryland testing requirements please check the ETS website.
  • Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language when deemed necessary.
  • Exemplary organizational and planning skills. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators.

Essential Functions    

  • Teach knowledge and skills in one or more courses:  ITEA Foundations of Technology, Technological Design, or Advanced Design Applications
  • Develop lesson plans and organize daily classes that include demonstration, instruction and practice.
  • Demonstrate the use of materials, equipment, tools and processes, by utilizing standard and/or teacher prepared models, mockups and other instructional aids.
  • Maintain professional competency through in-service activities provided by the school district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Attend to such activities as faculty meetings, PTA meetings, parent meetings, and other teaching-related duties as specified in Article 4 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Wicomico County Board of Education and the Wicomico County Education Association.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
