Seniors Plus Credit Recovery Teacher

West 40 Intermediate Service Center and Proviso District 209 are looking for a teacher with valid Illinois Professional Educator Licensure to teach in their Seniors Plus Credit Recovery Program.

Seniors Plus Credit Recovery is part of an Alternative Learning Opportunities Program (ALOP) designed to meet the needs of students whose previous life circumstances have likely contributed to their lack of academic progress. The program focuses on the areas of:

• Recovering credits and helping students graduate with a high school diploma
• Providing counseling/guidance needed to address social, emotional and behavioral needs, especially related to improving attendance and academic success
• College and career preparation

• Two three-hour class sessions each serving 30 students
• Program self-contained in a dedicated computer lab within the high school
• Self-paced, individualized education plans with various subject matter taught simultaneously 
• Direct-contact team consists of a Site Coordinator and a Classroom Assistant
• Interaction with various school departments

• Build rapport with students through positive daily interaction
• Help students with in-class tutoring of subject matter
• Grading online assignments daily
• Assess student progress daily and address student needs
• Record student attendance daily
• Assist in enrolling students into online classes as needed
• Assist in maintaining students' academic records of completed work
• Participate in weekly team meetings to review and problem-solve specific student concerns
• Assist in enforcing school rules and expectations
• Assist in data collection/reporting as needed
• Assist in other duties as needed

• Current Illinois Professional Educator Licensure required
• Minimum of an Bachelors degree required
• Experience working with at-risk adolescents/alternative learning programs desired
• Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred but not required
• Strong math/english skills preferred but not required

• August 7th, 2017-June 30th, 2018
• New yearly conrtact goes into effect July 1 each year
• Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

• $40,000-45,000 (annualized salary for 12 month employee) based on experience/education
